5. Christmas at Lanier Islands: Located on the scenic shores of Lake Lanier, the resort transforms into a winter wonderland with twinkling lights, seasonal décor and exciting attractions. Visitors can enjoy Snow Island, featuring thrilling snow tubing, along with ice skating and carnival rides. 
6. Holidays at Georgia Aquarium: Enjoy the sights and sounds of the holidays with festive music, winter-inspired projections, a 40-foot live tree, photos with Santa and more. Through Jan. 2.
7. The Polar Express Train Ride at Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. This 1¼-hour round-trip excursion is perfect for children as it features the motion picture soundtrack, warm cocoa, the magical story and Santa Claus as you travel to the North Pole. Through Dec. 31.
8. Holiday Express on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway: This enchanting one-hour train journey is perfect for families, featuring seasonal music, a reading of The Night Before Christmas, and cozy holiday vibes. Through Dec. 24.
