Love Box Program Overview

Through our Love Box program, we’re revolutionizing support for foster families by providing holistic care and building lasting relationships. Our volunteers are the heart of this initiative, creating a robust support network that transforms lives. We match dedicated volunteers with foster families, offering monthly deliveries of essential items and, more importantly, consistent emotional support.

The program benefits are far-reaching. Caregivers receive much-needed resources and encouragement, while children in foster care experience stability and normalcy. Our community impact is profound, with 92% of caregivers reporting they receive valuable tools from our staff. The volunteer experience is equally rewarding, with 94% of participants noting a positive impact on their matched family.

We’re committed to relationship building, fostering connections that extend beyond the program. An impressive 60% of our volunteers now consider their matched family part of their social circle. This deep-rooted support leads to increased placement stability and reduced turnover in foster care.

Dare to Dream Mentorship

While our Love Box program supports entire foster families, our Dare to Dream mentorship initiative focuses on empowering individual youth in foster care through one-on-one relationships with dedicated mentors. We’ve designed this program to provide consistent emotional support and practical guidance to youth aged 11-22, fostering their personal growth and self-confidence.

Our mentors commit to a one-year relationship, during which they work closely with their mentees on goal setting and youth empowerment. They offer advice, encouragement, and assistance with both practical and emotional needs. This long-term commitment allows for deep, meaningful connections to form, creating a stable presence in the lives of foster youth.

We’re proud of the impact Dare to Dream has made. Studies show that 60% of mentors see increased confidence in their mentees, and 90% plan to stay connected even after the program ends. These strong relationships are transforming lives, with 84% of mentors reporting open communication and 89% enjoying their time together. By providing consistent support and guidance, we’re helping foster youth dare to dream big and achieve their goals.

Becoming a volunteer with Atlanta Angels is an exciting opportunity, but it’s vital to understand the requirements and expectations before getting started. We take our commitment to foster children and families seriously, which is why we have specific guidelines in place for our volunteers.

First and foremost, we require all potential volunteers to undergo a thorough background check. This guarantees the safety and well-being of the children and families we serve. Once cleared, volunteers must complete our detailed training program, which covers program guidelines, best practices, and the unique challenges faced by those in foster care.

We expect our volunteers to dedicate a significant amount of time to their roles. For Love Box volunteers, this means a minimum one-year commitment with monthly family visits. Dare to Dream mentors should be prepared for a year-long engagement, meeting with their mentee at least twice a month. Time dedication is essential for building meaningful relationships and making a lasting impact.

Throughout their service, volunteers must adhere to our program guidelines, which include maintaining confidentiality, respecting boundaries, and following safety protocols. We’re committed to supporting our volunteers every step of the way, ensuring they have the resources and guidance needed to make a difference in the lives of foster children and families.
