Family #49: 2 kids
This fictive kin placement has two caregivers and a sibling set of 2 boys– one 2 y/o and another 1 y/o. These caregivers have always wanted to foster since the 90’s and when their daughter-in-law’s cousin’s two boys entered care in late 2022, they welcomed them home. “They are the coolest people I had the opportunity to meet” the foster mama shares. This family has some tangible needs such as diapers and pull-ups, and also emotional support needs through help with potty training, play dates with the kiddos, and helping the family get connected with community activities that encourage socialization for the kiddos.

Family #50: 4 kids
This kinship placement has 2 retired grandparents with 4 grandchildren all under the age of 5– 3 girls and 1 boy. While parenting was not what they had in mind in their retirement, these grandparents are planning to adopt by the end of this year. All 4 of the kiddos are smart, playful, curious, and active, and the caregivers have many hobbies such as gardening, woodwork, camping, and traveling. However, the caregivers are not able to enjoy any of their hobbies or recharge lately due to childcare. Someone or a family who can wrap around these young kiddos like an auntie or an uncle, and become an extra set of hands to care, to love, and to play with these kiddos will be the best support for everyone in the family. Eventually, once the relationship has grown stronger, it would be invaluable for these caregivers to have a weekend off to travel and decompress!
