Dislikes: Cole slaw, traffic, wastefulness, social media, & empty promises Micah Kane’s commitment to advocating for children, youth, and families in foster care is a testament to the power of resilience, healing, and transformation. A 2023 graduate of Kennesaw State University, Micah holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Services, specializing in Social Engagement & Advocacy, with a minor in Child Advocacy Studies (CAST). Micah’s work is not just professional but deeply personal, shaped by his own journey through adversity. Having entered foster care at the age of 4, he moved through nine different homes before being adopted at age 8. The stability and love he found in his adoptive family became the foundation for his healing and the spark that fueled his determination to ensure other children in care receive the same support. The values he found in his adoptive family were the foundation for his healing and ultimately inspired him to become the first in his biological family to graduate high school and college. Micah's life is a powerful reminder that, with the right environment, even the most difficult beginnings can lead to extraordinary outcomes. Micah’s journey with Atlanta Angels began in 2023 as a college intern, where he resonated with the organization’s mission and values. Today, as a Fundraising Coordinator and Case Manager at Atlanta Angels, Micah is a catalyst for change, working to eliminate obstacles that so often define the foster care system. His trauma-informed, relational approach centers on the understanding that children in care are not defined by their past, but by their potential to heal and thrive. Micah knows that with compassion, structure, and consistent support, children in care can unlock their inner strength and overcome any barrier. He believes that the right guidance can empower youth to break free from the cycles of hardship they have inherited, opening doors to brighter futures filled with opportunity. In his dual role as Fundraising Coordinator and Case Manager, Micah uniquely bridges the gap between those in care and the donors supporting their transformation, using his understanding of both their challenges and expectations. Micah’s vision for the foster care system extends far beyond individual care. He envisions a transformation where the system is no longer seen as a cycle of suffering but as a platform for healing, growth, and empowerment. Micah is dedicated to breaking the generational cycles of trauma and supporting children in care to become leaders who will shape their communities for the better. His work tackles larger societal challenges such as mental health, housing instability, and barriers to educational attainment, focusing on the profound impact that nurturing relationships and community support can have on transforming not only individual lives but entire generations. |
